On September 17th, 2023, many will be honoring the 14th anniversary of the disappearance of Mitrice Richardson who was released from the Lost Hills Station shortly after midnight, with no car, no cell phone and no means to get her to safety. Ten months later, her mummified remains were discovered approximately six miles from the station and 1.5 miles from where she was last seen.
Dr. Ronda Hampton, a clinical psychologist from Diamond Bar who was close to Mitrice and fighting for justice in the case since she disappeared, posted the following information on Facebook regarding her plans for remembering Mitrice this year. This is a worthwhile effort that benefits anyone who is in need and celebrates the true spirit of who Mitrice truly was.
“As many of you know I have been working to educate about the missing and mentally ill since the disappearance of my former psychology intern, Mitrice Richardson. Though her story did not have a positive ending, she left a mark on the world that has significantly benefitted others and I am grateful for all she has taught me in her life and in her death. This year, through my nonprofit organization REACH for Mental Health Awareness, we will honor Mitrice on the 14th anniversary of her disappearance by having a clothing drive – “Mitrice’s Closet”. We will be collecting clothing (for all genders and ages) on September 17th, from 7am to 3pm. Donations will benefit the Pomona Pride Center in recognition of Mitrice’s commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Resource Pantry is open to anyone in the community who is in need and no one is turned away. The resource Pantry accepts donations of adult and children’s clothing, hygiene products, nonperishable food items, and books for all ages.”
