Two male suspects were detained after reports of suspicious activity Pepperdine University campus Wednesday morning.
Students received alerts via Everbridge to beware of suspects in a white SUV displaying what appeared to be a firearm.
A Malibu resident was driving behind the suspect’s vehicle and was able to catch the driver displaying the weapon outside of the driver side window. The resident sent the video to IPS Global CEO Aaron Jones, who forwarded it to Malibu Daily News to alert the community.
“This video was forwarded to me today after the incident. I do appreciate the fact that the community trust me and IPS to work hand in hand with law enforcement to keep Malibu and the areas we serve safer places to live.” said Jones in an exclusive quote to Malibu Daily News.
Malibu/Lost Hills deputies intercepted the vehicle near John Tyler and apprehended the suspects related to the suspicious activity without incident.
According to Pepperdine officials, deputies searched the vehicle finding only a BB gun and no other weapons.
