The Mitrice Richardson Investigation: A New Podcast Releases Featuring New Details in the 14-year Unsolved Case

Fourteen years ago, Mitrice Richardson took the journey to Malibu, in the midst of what we now know to be a serious mental health episode, which wrongfully landed her behind bars and ultimately cost her her life.

Was it murder? Dr. Ronda Hampton and I think so.

Hampton, a clinical psychologist and mentor to Richardson, has been an integral part of the case since day one and joins me in a new podcast series called Malibu Mountains Mysteries, covering the unsolved missing and murdered cases in the Dark Canyon area of Malibu Canyon.

The Richardson case is the first case we do a deep dive into with information and shocking details never released before.

In the first episode, we retrace Mitrice’s steps that fateful day. Where she went and whom she talked to up until she arrived at Geoffrey’s Restaurant in Malibu where her fate was ultimately sealed.

Dr. Hampton and I met in 2018 during the Malibu Creek State Park Shootings through a mutual acquaintance. Together, we compared information individually gathered and utilized connections we built in the law enforcement community, including former Sheriff Alex Villanueva, of whom Hampton was closely aligned with at the time.

Through that relationship, we built additional connections and uncovered more shocking evidence we will reveal in each episode of the Richardson investigation for Malibu Mountain Mysteries.

Former Sheriff Alex Villanueva at the 10th year anniversary press conference of Richardson being released from the Lost Hills Station.

At the end of each episode, we will have a “Talk Back” sessions where Dr. Hampton and I will answer questions from listeners specific to the Richardson case.

Editor in Chief, Cece Woods

Editor-in-Chief Cece Woods founded Malibu Daily News in 2021.

Woods began publishing in 2013, creating the lifestyle publication 90265 Magazine. One year later, she launched The Local Malibu, an activism-based platform, in 2014.

The publication was instrumental in the success of two ballot measures, seating three Malibu City Councilmen in 2016, and supporting the top two vote-getters again in 2020.

During the summer of 2018, Woods exposed the law enforcement cover-up in the Malibu Creek State Park Shootings and a few short months later, provided the most comprehensive local news coverage during the Woolsey Fire attracting over 1 million hits across her social media platforms.

Woods went on to create the LA political platform The Current Report, exposing the corruption at LA Metro under Philip Washington. She worked with Federal investigators, a watchdog organization, and senators, ultimately leading to Washington withdrawing his nomination to become head of the FAA.

In 2020, Woods added Cali Mag to her extensive list of successful publications.
